About us
Hi, I'm Minjee! Let me guess—you're here because business tech feels like it's written in another language, right?
Good news: I actually speak other languages (four of them!), and I've made it my mission to translate all that confusing business and tech jargon into plain English. Whether it's Odoo ERP, AI automation, or Canadian tax rules, I'll help you understand it without the headache.
My Story: Why I Do What I Do?
From Spreadsheets to AI: My Journey to Helping You!
In 2004, I moved to Canada after I received my BS in Finance and working in the US. Like many newcomers, I learned that navigating a new country's tax system, business rules, and technology can feel completely overwhelming.
I remember sitting at my kitchen table, staring at Canadian tax forms and thinking, "There has to be a better way to explain this."
That experience shaped everything I do today. I've been in your shoes—confused, frustrated, and just wanting someone to explain things clearly.
15 Years in the Trenches
I spent over 15 years working as an accountant in corporate roles, including time as a Treasury Accountant. I saw firsthand how small businesses and tradespeople were:
- Drowning in paperwork they didn't understand
- Wasting hours on tasks that could be automated
- Missing out on tax deductions because nobody explained them properly
- Intimidated by technology that could actually make their lives easier
The breaking point? Watching talented entrepreneurs give up on their dreams because the "business stuff" felt too complicated.
The Lightbulb Moment
In 2014, my corporate job ended unexpectedly. Instead of finding another desk job, I decided to do something different.
I moved to Calgary, started my own bookkeeping business, and went back to school to study Linguistics. I wanted to be the person who sits across from small business owners and newcomers and says, "Here's what this actually means, and here's how we fix it."
No jargon. No judgment. Just practical solutions that work in the real world.
My Mission
To give small businesses and newcomers the tools to:
- Automate the tedious tasks (so you can actually enjoy your work).
- Organize finances without tears (or Excel meltdowns).
- Thrive with tech—even if you’re ‘not a computer person.’
Why Work With Me?
I’ve Been in Your Shoes
Moving to a new country is hard enough without trying to decode business regulations in your second (or third) language. I've navigated:
- Language barriers in professional settings
- The confusion of Canadian tax rules
- Immigration paperwork that makes your head spin
- Building a business from scratch without a local network
If you're a newcomer to Canada, I'm not just your accountant—I'm someone who truly understands your journey.
🧠 The "Unlikely Combo" Advantage
My finance background means I know my debits from my credits. My linguistics degree means I can explain them in a way that actually makes sense.
Think of me as your translator between Tech World and Real World.
I've taken my MA in Linguistics and turned it into a teaching method that:
- Uses real examples (not theoretical nonsense)
- Builds on what you already know
- Skips the buzzwords
- Actually sticks in your brain—not confuse you with buzzwords.
Fixer of “Oops” Moments
I’ve rescued clients from QuickBooks disasters, tax audits, and DIY website fails. No judgment, just solutions.
I'm obsessed with AI tools—not the complicated robot stuff, but the practical applications that can save small businesses 10+ hours a week.
I test everything myself first, then show you exactly how to use it. If I can't explain it to my non-tech clients, it's not worth recommending.
🏔️ Calgary-Proud
I'm not just in Calgary—I'm invested in Calgary. I understand:
- The unique challenges Alberta businesses face
- Local tax considerations
- The tradesperson and contractor market
- The growing newcomer community
- Why half our meetings get rescheduled due to Chinooks 😄
I tailor everything to the Calgary and Alberta context because generic advice from Toronto or Vancouver doesn't always apply here.
My Philosophy: Keep It Simple, Keep It Real
I Believe Business Should Be...
Simple, Not Shallow
Just because something is easy to understand doesn't mean it's dumbed down. I explain things clearly because I respect your intelligence.
Automated, Not Impersonal
Technology should give you more time for the human stuff—not replace human connection.
Accessible, Not Intimidating
You shouldn't need a PhD to understand your own bookkeeping or use modern tools.
